About Lauren
Meet Lauren Gonzalez,
the human behind LAY
Lauren is a mother, artist, writer, reiki practitioner, yin yoga teacher and spiritual guide living in Hawai’i. After 10 years as an art teacher in the classroom setting and weaving in mindfulness, meditation, and yoga in educational spaces, Lauren decided to explore what happens when a woman gives herself permission to make a creative life of her own. Her expertise is in facilitating connections between creative expression and intuitive practices. Her daily rituals include a cortado, meditation, creative expression, journaling, and time in nature with family. She attributes the revitalization of her health and optimized cognition in the midst of pregnancy, grief, trauma, and many other challenges along the way to the rituals she has developed and now offers to others to help them in their journey.
With a Masters Degree in Fine Arts Education from Hofstra University, a Bachelors of Science in Allied Health Science with a focus in Nutrition & Psychology, her decade long career in arts education naturally integrated wellness through various workshops, professional developments, and courses taught.
She earned her initial 200-hour RYT certification, and taught over 1,000 hours of anatomy and SEL in yoga teacher trainings for educators through Breathe For Change, has taken additional trainings in Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Reiki, and Sound Healing with Integral Yoga Institute, and Kristi Kuttner, and Mindfulness & Meditation trainings through Sounds True. It was through this exploratory period of converging art, science, intuitive and wellness teachings that she birthed LAY. Here, you will find these pieces; art-making, journaling, meditation, yoga, nutrition, nature, and reiki - coming together to create a mosaic for healing and well-being.
Lauren Art and Yoga exists to inspire others to make life something that they love. Lauren describes her energy as a soft place to land, and invites you to pick up a new creative practice, spend more time observing nature, or receive healing energy through reiki or yoga with her here. We will find beauty in every day when we create it.
When Lauren is not making art, drinking her coffee, or with her family and kitten Coconut, she is writing about spiritual musings and humorous takes on living an intuitive life on the A Softer Path Substack. You can also find her work via Instagram @laurenartandyoga.
With gratitude,
Lauren
